Pomen prostega časa pri osebah z zmanjšano zmožnostjo

Delovna terapija poudarja pomen vključenosti posameznika v prostočasne aktivnosti za življenjsko ravnovesje in vitalnost. Osebe z zmanjšano zmožnostjo pa se srečujejo z omejeno izbiro in ovirami. Zadovoljstvo v prostem času je povezano z zadovoljstvom z življenjem. Preučevano je bilo doživljanje in pomen prostega časa pri osebah z zmanjšanimi zmožnostmi: Zanimala nas je frekvenca ter povezanost ovir in podpor z zadovoljstvom v prostem času in z življenjem. V kvalitativnem delu raziskave so bili izvedeni intervjuji s 5 osebami z zmanjšano možnostjo. V kvantitativnem delu raziskave je bilo vključenih 843 udeležencev, razdeljenih v dve skupini. Skupina 1 je vključevala 554 oseb brez zmanjšane zmožnosti, skupina 2 pa 303 osebe z zmanjšano zmožnostjo. Statistična analiza je pokazala, da osebe brez zmanjšane zmožnosti dosegajo višje zadovoljstvo z življenjem. Vpliv zadovoljstva v prostem času na zadovoljstvo z življenjem je večji pri osebah z zmanjšano zmožnostjo. Prostočasne aktivnosti so pri teh osebah pomemben napovednik zadovoljstva z življenjem. Delovni terapevti jim s prilagajanjem in pripomočki omogočajo njihovo izvajanje.
