Integrated Care for People with Mental Health Problems

Mental health care is an area of special public interest. More and more activities are focused on the provision of integrated care through collaboration between providers of health and social services and the public, NGOs or other private organisations in the context of a formal network of mental health. The purpose of the research was to gain an insight into the opinion of experts and service users on cooperation between organisations in the support network for people with mental health problems. The aim of the research was to reveal the advantages and obstacles for the cooperation between the providers and development of support networks. The qualitative research approach was used. A survey consisted of semi-structured interviews with 12 experts and 4 focus groups with users from mental health services. Professionals and service users emphasised slightly different areas in the evaluation of cooperation between organisations in the field of mental health. It appears that the important trigger factors for collaboration between different sectors are mainly two: identifying and meeting the needs of people with mental health problems and formal and personality traits of the involved.
