Krhkost
od biološkega k bio-psiho-socialnemu razumevanju geriatričnega sindroma

Namen prispevka je natančneje opredeliti krhkost (dinamičen proces zmanjšanja telesnega, psihološkega in/ali socialnega funkcioniranja, povezanega s staranjem). Je pogost geriatrični sindrom. Pomeni povečano ranljivost posameznika za stresorje zaradi manjše fiziološke rezerve, slabše homeostaze. V elektronski bazi podatkov PubMed smo pregledali razpoložljivo strokovno literaturo, tako izvirne znanstvene članke kot tudi sistematične in druge preglede literature ter ekspertna mnenja. V zadnjih letih se je cilj proučevanja iz zgolj telesnih vidikov krhkosti preusmeril v bolj celostno – bio-psiho-socialno obravnavo krhkih starostnikov. Zaenkrat stroka še vedno ni enotna glede samega razumevanja koncepta, saj obstajajo številne identifikacijske lestvice. Pogosta posledica krhkosti je tako slabši izid zdravljenja kot tudi slabši funkcionalni status. Vedno več je dokazov o učinkovitosti različnih intervenc, ki pozitivno vplivajo na že izraženo krhkost, kot tudi preprečujejo razvoj krhkosti pri ranljivih posameznikih.
