Promoting Physical Activity in Preventive Healthcare
Keywords:

Adequate physical activity is an essential component of preventive healthcare. The promotion of preventive healthcare and the importance of a physically active lifestyle can be influentially emphasized by physical therapists and all healthcare professionals through their work at all levels of health care. The purpose of this paper is to present scientific evidence of the relationship between physical activity and major physiological systems. A descriptive method based on a review of the scientific literature was used. We reviewed studies that examined health promotion and physical activity promotion in physiotherapy at all levels of health care as a core health care approach to exercise training. Three themes were identified: the link between physical activity and the immune system, the link between physical activity and the cardiovascular system, and the link between physical activity and the metabolic system. The research findings of the research highlight the importance of appropriate physical activity and the positive adaptive effects associated with changes in the immune, cardiovascular, and metabolic systems. Outlining the framework for promoting preventive healthcare in physiotherapy may contribute to further investigation of prevention and whole system functioning at all levels of health care as a sustainable approach to quality of life for individuals.
