The aim of the study was to determine the level of knowledge about dementia and the link to the pillars of support for people with dementia. In community health centers in the statistical region of Savinja, a structured questionnaire was filled in to assess the level of knowledge about dementia in relation to to different pillars od support for 166 adult patients, including 37 relatives of people with dementia. The statistical analysis used ANOVA, the T test and the Spearman correlation coefficient were used. The mean score for dementia-related knowledge was 9.23 out of 12, with higher scores given by respondents with higher education and by respondents from places with lower estimated access to relevant information. Although respondents from places with less access to information showed better knowledge of dementia, educational programmes and campaigns that emphasise the importance of pillars to support people with dementia could further increase adult awareness of the need to
build dementia-friendly communities.
