Corrections, retractions and editorial expressions of concern
In the case of significant errors identified in already published contributions, appropriate corrections are published in the Journal of Health Sciences based on the editorial board's discretion. If readers identify an error, they can report it to the editorial office via the email address urednistvo@jhs.si. The email should clearly specify the following details: publication reference (Vol., No.), title of the article, authors, and the part of the article with the error, which should be appropriately commented on.
The Journal of Health Sciences considers the following possible corrections for articles published in both the print and online versions: (1) publisher correction, (2) author correction, (3) article retraction, or (4) addendum to the published article.
(1) Publisher Correction: Notification of a significant error made by the journal that affects the formatting or scientific integrity of the article or the reputation of the authors or the journal.
(2) Author Correction: Notification of a significant error made by the author(s) that affects the formatting or scientific integrity of the article or the reputation of the authors or the journal.
(3) Retraction of the Article: Notification of invalid results in the article that affect its content integrity. The original scientific article is marked as retracted in both the print and online editions of the Journal of Health Sciences, but remains available to readers. A retraction statement, informing readers of the invalidity of the published article, is linked to the original article.
(4) Addendum to the Article: Notification of additional information about the published article, when the editorial board of the Journal of Health Sciences decides that the addendum is crucial for the reader’s understanding of the article. Addenda also include the “Editorial Expression of Concern,” which is an editorial statement alerting readers of serious concerns regarding the published article.
The type of correction is determined by the editorial board of the Journal of Health Sciences, which may consult with reviewers involved in evaluating the published article and the authors of the article. The final decision regarding the type of correction is always made by the journal's editor-in-chief, who leads the review process.
If the correction is content-related (e.g., if new or corrected graphical material is published), the version of the correction is included as the last page in the PDF version of the original article. This ensures that readers always have access to both the original article and any updates.
The editorial board of the Journal of Health Sciences acknowledges the importance of interpreting evidence-based published research, which is necessary for developing scientific discourse. Any complaints, disagreements regarding the interpretation of published articles, or other dilemmas should be addressed to the journal’s editor-in-chief. Editorial decisions to publish such comments are always based on their relevance to readers, the novelty of the arguments, and integrity towards all involved parties.
We consider comments on original research articles and only publish them if the author of the comment provides clear evidence that challenges the fundamental findings of the published article. Such comments are subject to the review process before publication and are reviewed by the same reviewers who evaluated the commented article. The editor-in-chief will also forward the comment to the authors of the original article, giving them the opportunity to respond. If the comment clearly points out significant content deficiencies in the published article that the authors fail to address adequately, the editor may initiate the retraction process for the original article based on such a comment.
