In recent decades, healthcare systems around the world have experienced significant changes, driven by factors such as globalisation, ageing populations, staff turnover, climate change, and changing societal values and expectations of health. The aim of the research was to examine the link between management and the quality of patient care in an international environment through a systematic review of the scientific literature. To obtain relevant data, we conducted a thorough literature review with the following inclusion criteria: time limit of the last five years, free access to full texts and content relevance to the research objective. After the selection and analysis of sources, 18 scientific articles were included in the final analysis. The results of the content analysis confirm the key role of management in ensuring quality healthcare at all levels of healthcare. The findings highlight the importance of strategic development of all healthcare professions and the necessity of active support from management in public healthcare institutions. A strengthened role of management can significantly contribute to improving the quality of patient care, increasing employee satisfaction and a higher level of satisfaction among healthcare users. Based on the findings, we recommend increased investment in the development of management competencies of employees in the public healthcare sector.
