Neskladnost biološkega spola in spolne identitete

Ker živimo v pretežno stereotipnem svetu, velja prepričanje, da ženske za svoj videz skrbijo veliko bolj kot moški in da niso zadovoljne z nekaterimi podrobnostmi na svojem telesu, kar pa zagotovo ne drži. Večina moških dandanes odkrito priznava, da porabijo toliko časa kot ženske, ko gre za skrb za njihov videz. Kljub temu obstaja velika razlika med tem, da na splošno nismo zadovoljni s svojim videzom ali z nekaterimi podrobnostmi, ki nas delajo edinstvene, in disforijo spola. Disforija spola je stanje trajnega nezadovoljstva. Cilj tega prispevka je pokazati razliko med spolom v biološkem smislu in spolom kot skupkom družbenih vlog, vedenja, identitete, pojasniti koncept disforije spola, predstaviti dejstva in vidike prilagajanja spola (ne glede na poženščenje ali pomoščenje telesa) in predstaviti (ponazoriti) količino težav, s katerimi se soočajo pacienti z diagnozo disforija spola. Prispevek je zasnovan v upanju, da bo naredil majhen korak naprej pri ozaveščanju znanstvene skupnosti, pa tudi ostalega prebivalstva o prisotnosti pojava neskladnosti biološkega spola in spolne identitete v današnji družbi.
