Povezanost telesne dejavnosti v srednjem obdobju življenja s tveganjem za demenco – pregled literature

Demenca je skupek simptomov oziroma oviranosti in pomeni motnjo več višjih kortikalnih, kognitivnih in intelektualnih funkcij. Razvoj demence je povezan z življenjskim slogom v srednjem obdobju življenja. Telesna dejavnost velja za pomemben varovalni dejavnik življenjskega sloga za zdravje. Namen raziskave je ugotoviti povezanost telesne dejavnosti v srednjem obdobju življenja s tveganjem za demenco in incidenco demence ter kognitivnim zdravjem v starosti. S sistematičnim pregledom literature obdobja petih let smo ugotovili, da so avtorji enotni, da že lahka in zmerna telesna dejavnost zadostujeta za zmanjšanje tveganja kognitivnega upada in vseh vrst demence. Deljena so mnenja glede intenzivnosti telesne dejavnosti, povezanosti s tveganjem za nastanek demence, z incidenco različnih vrst demence in s kognitivnim zdravjem. Trenutni znanstveni dokazi ne omogočajo oblikovanja enotnih smernic glede telesne dejavnosti za preventivo pred demenco in kognitivnim upadom. Za oblikovanje priporočil glede telesne dejavnosti se kaže priložnost v novi študiji, ki bo usmerjena v populacijo v srednjem življenjskem obdobju in ugotavljanje demence in kognitivnega zdravja pri njej.
