Psi pomočniki kot podpora samostojnosti, zdravju in socialni participaciji oseb z invalidnostjo

Povzetek

Osebe z invalidnostjo se pogosto soočajo z omejitvami pri vključevanju v vsakodnevne dejavnosti. Psi pomočniki so pomembna podpora pri izboljšanju samostojnosti, varnosti in zdravja ter dobrega počutja. Namen raziskave je bil spoznati izkušnje oseb s psom pomočnikom pri vključevanju v za osebo z invalidnostjo pomembne dejavnosti (okupacije). Izvedena je bila kvalitativna opisna raziskava z devetimi poglobljenimi polstrukturiranimi intervjuji. Udeleženci so bili izbrani z namenskim vzorčenjem. Posneti intervjuji so bili dobesedno prepisani in analizirani s kvalitativno vsebinsko analizo. Izkušnje oseb z invalidnostjo so bile povezane z lažjim vključevanjem v vsakodnevne dejavnosti, večjo samostojnostjo pri izvedbi njim pomembnih dejavnosti, večjo telesno aktivnostjo, občutkom socialne sprejetosti ter podporo duševnemu zdravju. Udeleženci so hkrati opisovali tudi izzive, povezane z neozaveščenostjo javnosti, omejitvami pri vključevanju v javno okolje, vedenjskimi težavami psa in finančnimi obremenitvami. Ugotovitve poudarjajo potrebo po večjem ozaveščanju javnosti in strokovni podpori lastnikom psov pomočnikov.
